Marriott opens its 1st Four Points by Sheraton brand in Kerala

Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark  features 218 well-appointed guestrooms including 23 suites.

Marriott International expands its brand presence in Kerala as Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark, a luxury hotel, was officially opened by Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala at Kakkand, Kochi the new IT hub of Kerala’s commercial capital on February 11, 2019. 

Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan has inaugurated the hotel in the presence of Mr M R Jaishankar, CMD, Brigade Group, Mr. Neeraj Govil, Area Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, Ms. Ranju Alex, Marriott’s multi-property Vice President of Bengaluru and Kochi and Mr. Dinesh Rai, General Manager of the newly opened property.

Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark was developed and owned by the Bangaluru based Brigade Group with well appointed 218 guestrooms including 23 suites, reflect the Marriot brand’s promise of integrating timeless classics with modern details. The hotel is designed to organise big events and accommodate a number of guests on such occasions.

“It is our first hospitality venture in Kochi. We have the famous World Trade Centre here. Currently, we have six hotels with 1,200 rooms across the country. In the next two years, we are looking to expand the number to 11 hotels and 450 additional rooms across the country,” said Mr. M R Jaishankar, CMD, Brigade Group.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Neeraj Govil, Area Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International said, “We are delighted to announce the opening of Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark, the twelfth hotel in the Four Points by Sheraton’s India portfolio. Business travellers to Kochi are assured of a seamless stay, the hotel’s spaces and facilities are smart and flexible, ensuring every aspect of the guest experience reflects the brand’s emphasis on uncomplicated comfort and simple sophistication”.

According to Ms. Ranju, “It was the 12th hotel for Marriott under Four Points brand across India and the first property in Kerala- God’s Own Country and the new Four Points will be crucial for the hospitality sector in the tourism hotspot in the country.

“For us, Kerala is an important market. We already have four hotels in Kochi, Marriot Kochi Lulu Mall, Le Meriden Kochi, Courtyard by Marriot Kochi International Airport and Port Muziris, A Tribute Portfolio,  Kochi, which is cheduled to be opening in April 2019.  We are planning one more hotel in Kochi in coming months. While two or three hotels in other tourist destinations are under consideration,” she said.

The property situated closely to the IT hub of Kakkanad Infopark and around 27 km from the Cochin International Airport and less than 10 km to numerous attractions including the Kochi city centre, Mattancherry Place, Fort Kochi, Kerala Kathakali Centre, Hill Palace Museum, and Mattancherry Jews Synagogue. Considering the importance of the location inside Infopark, 5,000 square feet space is dedicated for conferences and social gathering. The hotel also has a gym, spa and infinity pool.

Dining options include The Eatery, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant with an international spread, local specialties and an enticing dessert selection. All Spice is a casual destination to unwind and escape the nuances of the everyday life and indulge in coastal delicacies from Maharashtra, Goa, Karwar and Kerala. Deli is the Grab and Go - pastry and confectionery shop, along with Caper the high-energy lounge bar.

According to Jaishankar, discussions are on with Technopark to introduce a new World Trade Centre in Thiruvananthapuram. Similarly, an island resort at Vaikom is also in pipeline. “We have acquired 16 acres at Vaikom for the resort project. However, some paperwork is to be completed before we start with the project. As far as the World Trade Centre is concerned, the matter is under discussion with authorities in Technopark,” he said.
