HIKE - A novel initiative to transform knowledge to Next Gen

Kerala Tourism and its industry partners have always shown very different path and rare ideas in to Indian tourism and hospitality sector. Recently also a new event created by a group of few young hospitality professionals in Kerala to transfer their acquired professional knowledge, expertise and experience to the next generation and upcoming talents for better future of industry and destination.

They aptly named the group as Kerala Travel Team and named their training programme as HIKE (Hospitality Individual's Knowledge Empowerment). They initially started a two days training programme for new comers and less experienced professionals to fine tune their talents and skill. Their first programme was held at Thekkady for hotel professionals and second training programme was recently held at Munnar for Travel agents and Tour Operators. 

At Munnar, HIKE training programme have more than 60 dynamic and young travel professionals to attend and shape their future with  knowledge from the industry experts and veterans.

On the first day, Mr. S. Swaminathan ( MD of Dravidian Trails) interacted with delegates on Operatiosn and communication skills in Tour Operation and Mr. Shylendran M ( VP - Sales & Marketing of CGH Earth Hotels) had talk about Sales and Marketing techniques in Tourism and hospitality industry. A hardcore management trainer Mr. Jaydeep.P.V., spent almost 3 hours with this young Turks to break the ice and train them about brand building, motivation and hospitality business.

Second day Mr. Ravisankar K.V., Managing Editor of Tourism India, Mr. Ratheesh Nath, MD of Paradise Holidays Kerala and Mr. Shamsudheen, President of Arab Travel Agents Association were interacted with the delegates and Mr. Abraham George, President of Kerala Travel Mart Society distributed the certificates to participants.

The HIKE training  programme  at Munnar were supported by Munnar Destination Makers, a new group of hotels forum to make Munnar as a better destination with sustainable tourism practices. MDM team headed by Mr. Vimal Roy (President), Mr. Abbas (Secretary), Mr. Bennet, MD of Panoramic Getaway Munnar  were interacted with participants, and presented various MDM members properties in Munnar to the delegates. 

Munnar Queen, Orchid Highlands, Fog Resorts & Spa, Tea Village Resorts Munnar, Indriya Birds Valley and  Chandy’s windy woods have provided the rooms and hospitality for the delegates.

Kerala Travel team headed by Mr. Abdul Gafoor of Hills & Hues Thekkady, Mr. Aneesh Paul, Mr. Anoop KP, Mr. Amal Senan and  Mr. Abhijith Balan are the brain behind the idea and have deserved a big salute to implement such a novel idea without expecting anything return.
