Vietnam Airlines begins direct Ahmedabad-Hanoi flights, its fifth Indian destination

Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct service between Ahmedabad and Hanoi, giving Gujarat its first nonstop air link with Vietnam. The inaugural flight left Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on November 3, 2026. The route marks the airline’s entry into Gujarat and makes Ahmedabad its fifth passenger destination in India.

The service operates four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. It gives travellers from Ahmedabad and neighbouring markets direct access to Hanoi, with onward connections across Vietnam Airlines’ domestic and international network. The route is expected to support tourism, business travel and trade, and adds to Ahmedabad Airport’s growing list of international connections.

Welcoming the launch, H.E. Trinh Minh Manh, Ambassador of Vietnam to India, said improved air links would further boost tourism, trade, business exchanges and people-to-people ties, strengthening the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

A spokesperson for Ahmedabad International Airport Limited (AIAL) said the connection will give travellers greater choice and convenience and contribute to the growth of international connectivity from Gujarat. The airport looks forward to working with Vietnam Airlines and Aeroprime Group on the route’s development.

Nguyen Trung Hieu, Country Manager, India, Vietnam Airlines, said the launch reflects the airline’s commitment to the Indian market and its ambition to make Vietnam more accessible to Indian travellers. “Gujarat offers considerable potential across leisure, business and MICE travel,” he said, adding that the route also opens access to Vietnam’s diverse destinations through the airline’s wider network.

Abhishek Goyal, Executive Director and CEO, Aeroprime Group, the airline’s Passenger General Sales Agent (GSA) in India, described Ahmedabad as a commercially significant market with strong business activity and growing interest in international travel. He said Aeroprime would focus on building awareness and demand for the new service.
