This independent sustainability verification program, facilitated by esteemed verifiers Green Key and SGS, guides hotels of all sizes through a 12-step program to reduce carbon emissions, promote nature conservation, and ensure local communities benefit. Embraced by major hotel brands like Jin Jiang, Louvre Hotel Group, and Radisson, as well as industry players like Intrepid and British Airways Holidays, the ‘Basics’ serves as both a minimum standard and a stepping stone to more advanced sustainability initiatives. Its success in its inaugural year, endorsed by destinations worldwide, is a testament to the hospitality industry’s global commitment to sustainable tourism.
