The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) has officially announced the inaugural edition of the Jaffna MICE Expo 2023, scheduled to take place from November 30th to December 3rd, 2023 at Jaffna, the capital city of the northern province of Sri Lanka. This event is strategically crafted to spotlight the Northern Province as a promising hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). It also offers MICE agents and media representatives from South India a unique opportunity to explore the region’s potential.
Following the resounding success of the MICE Expo in Colombo earlier this year, the Northern Province emerged as an attractive destination for business tourism, with a particular focus on markets in the South India Region that share a similar cultural affinity. The Jaffna MICE Expo is orchestrated by the SLCB under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and Lands, with the gracious support of Jetwing Jaffna and the Thinnai Hotel in Jaffna as venue partners.
The four-day program will encompass an opening plenary, a business forum, B2B meetings, a grand gala dinner, and a familiarization tour of Jaffna. The fully hosted buyer program includes return airfare from Chennai to Jaffna, three nights of accommodation, all meals, and access to the complete event agenda. A total of 45 MICE buyers and media representatives from South India are expected to attend.
The B2B meetings will facilitate interactions with local MICE-related service providers, including hotels, venue providers, and other operators. Additionally, the SLCB has introduced a subsidized package for MICE operators and travel agents based in Colombo, enabling them to explore Jaffna and participate in the B2B session during the event.
