In a significant step towards promoting spiritual and wellness tourism, Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte Minister of Tourism, Govt. of Goa, presided over the 11th Empowered Committee Meeting. The meeting, attended by Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director Tourism Goa, Mr. Girish Kulkarni, Founder of Temple Connect, and members of the empowered committee, focused on highlighting the state’s efforts to establish Goa as a leading spiritual destination, offering unique spiritual experiences to visitors from all around the world.
Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Govt. of Goa, emphasized the importance of marketing and public relations to showcase the spiritual side of Goa along with wellness activities. He revealed plans to introduce direct flights from Mopa Airport to Uttarakhand, Dehradun, Nagpur, and Guwahati. This move aims to bridge the travel gap between Uttarkashi and Dakshin Kashi, enhancing tourism and connectivity and attracting more tourists to Goa.
Additionally, the Hon’ble Minister announced a conclave in October, which will serve as a platform for engaging with influencers and stakeholders in the tourism industry. This conclave’s primary goal is to foster collaboration and build meaningful connections to develop spiritual circuits, including yoga, wellness, and other spiritual experiences. An important milestone in this endeavor was marked with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Govt. of Goa and Temple Connect, a prominent organization dedicated to promoting Spiritual Tourism.
As part of the upcoming Shiv Jayanti festival celebration, plans were unveiled to organize the festival in six cities across the state. The involvement of the youth, Yuva Tourism Clubs, and students in promoting and preserving Goa’s spiritual identity was highlighted. Engaging the younger generation is essential in maintaining the authenticity and sanctity of the state’s temples and spiritual sites.
Furthermore, Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte mentioned the possibility of hosting commercial sponsorship for Ironman 70.3 based on the positive response. This initiative aims to promote Sports Tourism and attract athletes and sports enthusiasts worldwide to participate in and witness such events.
Mr.Girish Kulkarni, Founder of Temple Connect, emphasized the importance of digitizing content about temples and organizing events to document and preserve the rich cultural heritage of these sacred places. He highlighted the potential to showcase smart temple management practices and raise awareness about the importance of temple conservation. By promoting exposure to important temples and historic sites, tourism can be encouraged, contributing to the development of infrastructure and the ecosystem in Goa.
