Millet is a diverse traditional crop and The Lalit Group is making an endeavour to offer a boost to the crop in order to support the farm growers and sustainable farming.
The United Nations has declared the current year as the International Year of Millets. Aimed to support the millet mission of India and to provide an impetus to the consumption of millets across the country, the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group- an icon of luxury Indian hospitality has launched a food promotion themed “Shree Anna: The Healthy Millet” at all its properties on July 19, this year.
Millet, an indigenous crop has an immense nutritional value. The Lalit Group has taken the initiative to generate awareness about the consumption of millet, its health benefits, and its significance in supporting the growers. The millet-based menu has a wide variety of options catering to the tastes and preferences of consumers. According to Kamal Raza, General Manager, The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata, “There are multiple benefits associated with millets and it is no longer regarded as a dietary supplement. India has emerged as the diabetic capital of the world. Millets have sound health benefits for diabetic patients and are known to regulate blood pressure levels and keep cholesterol at bay. We want both the growers and consumers to benefit from this kind of promotion. We will be offering a millet menu at all our outlets from July 20 to August 20 and depending upon its popularity, we will introduce the dishes in the regular course. Hence, we are creating a demand for this crop.”
