Indian Hospitality industry veteran and leader Mr K. Syama Raju has been elected as the President of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) for 2024-25 at the 68th Annual General Meeting of FHRAI held at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi on 30th September 2024. Mr Syama Raju will take charge of the office from 1st November 2024 and the current President Mr Pradeep Shetty will continue till 31st October 2024.
Mr. K. Syama Raju is the Managing Director of the Hotel Maurya, Bengaluru. This is the second term of Mr. Syama Raju as the President of FHRAI as he also served as the President of FHRAI in the term 2016-17. Mr. Syama Raju also held various other positions in FHRAI in the past years.
Mr. K Syama Raju is the current president of the Southern India Hotel & Restaurant Association (SIHRA) and also he serves as the President of the Karnataka Tourism Society for the current term.
Another Bangalore hotelier and current Vice President of the association Mr. K. Nagaraju, Director of Radisson Blu Atria, Bengaluru will be the Honorary Secretary and Mr. Garish Oberoi, Partner, Hotel Uberoi Anand, Bareilly has been elected as the Honorary Treasurer of Indian hotel industry’s premier body. The outgoing President Mr Pradeep Shetty, Director, Maharaja Restaurant, Mumbai will continue as the Vice President along with Mr Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, Partner, Deep Hotel, Lucknow and Mr Nitin Kothari, Sole Proprietor, Peter Cat Restaurant, Kolkata.
Mr. Ashoke Singh, Managing Director, A.V. Hotel Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata and Mr. Nirav Gandhi, Director, Hotel Express Towers, Vadodara are the new Joint Honorary Secretaries of FHRAI for the term 2024-2025
The election of the President and the new team of Office Bearers were held in the first meeting of the new Executive Committee, conducted after the 68th AGM.
After being elected to lead India’s premier hospitality trade association, Mr Shyama Raju shared his priorities with the media. He outlined FHRAI’s key focus areas, including obtaining industry status for the hospitality sector, securing subsidies, and addressing the challenges related to human resources. He also emphasized the Federation’s commitment to collaborating with state and union governments to support hoteliers and attract new investments, as the tourism industry is projected to experience rapid growth in the coming years.
The 54th Annual Convention of FHRAI under the stewardship of current President Mr. Pradeep Shetty, is all set to take place in the vibrant and exotic city of Goa from 16th to 18th October 2024. Union Minister for Tourism Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will inaugurate this Annual Convention on October 16, 2024. The chief guest is the cricket legend and ace Sea Surfer Mr Jonty Rhodes from South Africa.
