Uttarakhand is located in northern India. It is referred a Devabhumi which means Land of God due to numerous Hindu temples and pilgrimage centres found throughout the state. Uttarakhand is known for the natural environment of the Himalayas, the Bhabar and the Terai.
Uttarakhand was established in 2000, being carved from the Himalayan districts of Uttar Pradesh. It shares border with Tibet Autonomous region of China to the north; the sudurpaschim Pradesh of Nepal to the east; the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh to the south and Himachal Pradesh to the west and north-west. The state is divided into 2 Garhwal and Kumaon, with a total 13 districts. Administrative and Legislative Capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun. And Judicial Capital is Nainital.
