Assam is established in 1975. And is situated in North-eastern part of India and south of the eastern Himalayas along with Brahmaputra and Barak river valleys. The state shares border with Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh to the North; Nagaland and Manipur to the East; Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Bangladesh to the south and West Bengal to the West. Administrative Capital of Assam is Dispur. Guwahati is the Legislative and Judicial Capital of Assam. Shillong was the formal Capital. Assam is famous for its Tea and Silk. And it was the first source of oil drilling in Asia.
