Kolkata: In the fragrant blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and spices, Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata recently kicked off the holiday season with a special Cake Mixing ceremony at Vertex, The Liquid Restaurant. This delightful event, conducted in partnership with Treasures of Innocence, set the festive tone for the much-anticipated holiday season.
The Cake Mixing Ceremony, held a month ahead of Christmas, is a cherished tradition symbolizing both good fortune and festive joy. Before the cake takes its final form in the oven, the spirit of Yuletide comes alive through the blending of various ingredients, initiating the merriment of the holiday season. Diverse fruits and nuts were gathered for this ritual, contributing to the creation of the beloved plum cake. Each element, including spirits, dried fruits, cherries, dates, and spices, underwent meticulous blending and was infused with brandy, rum, and wine. This careful process ensures the mixture matures before baking, resulting in a rich and flavorful holiday treat.
Fairfield By Marriott Kolkata partnered with Treasures of Innocence (TOI), an NGO dedicated to enhancing the lives of children through participatory and empowerment initiatives in West Bengal. The heartwarming collaboration saw a group of 20 children actively participating in the joyous cake-mixing event, symbolizing the shared commitment to nurturing and uplifting the community’s future. The evening was a pure culinary delight enjoyed by all who engaged in the festivities.
Debashish Sen, Managing Director of HIDCO, graced the occasion as the esteemed chief guest. The event also saw city connoisseurs and popular figures donning aprons, caps, and gloves, coming together to mix the colorful mounds of dry fruits, nuts, and other ingredients to welcome the lively and joyous Christmas season. The festivities continued with a splendid high tea experience featuring delectable dishes like Dundee cake, Plum pudding, Stollen, Cinnamon star cookies, Mince pie, Denmark julekage, Lamb Keema Puff, and more.
