The Raviz Hotels and Resorts as part of the 50th Anniversary of The Leela Raviz Kovalam, brought the enchanting allure of Kerala to Mumbai, held at The Leela Hotel, unfolded as a splendid evening of storytelling, meticulously presenting the cultural and culinary essence of “God’s Own Country.”
The showcase, hosted at The Leela Mumbai, in collaboration with The Leela Raviz Kovalam and The Leela Raviz Ashtamudi, was a grand celebration of Kerala’s rich tapestry, encompassing destinations, experiences, culture, art forms, and culinary delights, all within the framework of the “Responsible Tourism and the Copper Plate Circuit, the newly launched South Indian circuit by The Raviz Hotels and Resorts. This thoughtfully designed event catered to an audience of 500, providing a comprehensive overview of Kerala’s diverse offerings.
The evening featured a well-defined narrative that skillfully conveyed knowledge about Kerala’s tourism potential, cultural diversity, and taste variations. The presentation was complemented by mesmerizing tunes from traditional instruments like Idakka and Chenda, adding a musical dimension to the immersive experience.
As part of the showcase, Kerala was divided into three regions—North Kerala, Central Kerala, and South Kerala. Each region was highlighted through cultural activities and culinary experiences, showcasing the unique traditions and flavors distinctive to that area. The event featured the captivating “Puli Kali” performance, where participants adorned oversized bellies with tiger face paintings and danced to the lively beats of chendamelam. This traditional dance form drew attention not only from the local crowd but also from special guests, including those from the United States of America.
The program included video stories that illustrated the specialties of Kerala’s tourist destinations, accompanied by insights into the unique initiatives undertaken by Raviz Group Hotels. Cultural performances such as “Oppana,” a dance form from Muslim households during marriages; “Margam Kali,” a dance form from Christian households; and “Mohini Attam,” a Hindu dance form performed in temples and gatherings, added a vibrant and diverse touch to the showcase.
