T. Christuraj IAS Appointed as New Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism and MD, TTDC

In a recent administrative reshuffle by the Government of Tamil Nadu, senior IAS officer T. Christuraj has been appointed as the Director of Tourism for the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC). He succeeds Ms. Shilpa Prabhakar Satish IAS, who has been posted as the Secretary of the Commercial Taxes and Registration Department.

An Indian Administrative Service officer from the 2016 Tamil Nadu cadre, Mr. Christuraj brings a wealth of administrative experience, having served in several key positions across the state. Until his recent appointment, he was serving as the District Collector of Tiruppur. He has also previously held roles such as Commissioner of Salem City Corporation and Vice Chairman & CEO of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board, Chennai.

He took charge as the Collector of Tiruppur on May 22, 2023, where he focused on the effective implementation of welfare schemes, development projects, and ensuring service delivery to even the most remote rural areas.

A native of Chennai, he completed his Master’s degree in Mathematics from Loyola College in 1999. He began his administrative career as Assistant Collector (Training) in Nagapattinam in 2005 and later served as the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) in Coimbatore.

As he takes charge of Tamil Nadu Tourism, Mr. Christuraj is expected to lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the tourism experience across the state, promoting its rich heritage and cultural assets, and strengthening Tamil Nadu’s position as one of India’s top tourism destinations.
