Shoot the Rain 18 – Monsoon Soccer Tournament for the Travel & Hospitality Industry

The monsoon season returns with a splash – and so does one of Kerala’s  most  anticipated  Tourism  industry events. Shoot the Rain 18, the Monsoon Soccer Tournament Festival organized  by  the Tourism Professionals Club (TPC), is back for its 18th thrilling edition. This signature  sporting celebration for the Travel and Hospitality Industry will be held on 25th and 26th  July 2025 at the centrally located Maharaja’s College Stadium, Ernakulam, with proud  support from the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala.

For over two decades, Shoot the Rain has been a vibrant highlight on Kerala’s  monsoon  tourism calendar, blending high-energy football, camaraderie, and industry networking.  This  year’s tournament promises yet another unforgettable experience, kicking off at 6:45 AM on  25th July at the iconic stadium – easily accessible for residents and guests alike.

The event will be inaugurated and concluded in the presence of esteemed dignitaries. The  Ernakulam District Collector Mr.  NSK Umesh IAS  will formally inaugurate the event football legend Padma Shri I.M. Vijayan bringing excitement and star power  to the grounds.

 Shoot the Rain  isn’t just a tournament—it’s a festival. Attendees can enjoy Thrilling football matches amid Kerala’s magical monsoon,  Showcases by new and emerging resorts and hotels, and A specially curated food court featuring a variety of regional delicacies With its festive, family-friendly atmosphere, Shoot the Rain 18 will be the perfect weekend destination for both football fans and travel professionals.

29 hospitality teams will compete in the fast-paced Sevens Football format- each match  lasting 30 minutes, ensuring tight teamwork, dynamic action, and edge-of-the-seat  excitement.Champions will lift the Dominic Joseph Memorial Ever-Rolling Trophy and  receive a cash prize of ₹50,000 and  Runners-up will be awarded the Dr. Polly Mathew Ever-Rolling Trophy and  ₹30,000 . Third-place team will receive a cash prize of ₹20,000

Participating Teams   are  Club Travalet, Raviz Calicut, Gokulam Park Ernakulam, Akbar Holidays, Soma Health,  Coconut Lagoon, Marari Beach Resort, Leela Kovalam, Gokulam Grande Calicut, Taj  Scenic Munnar, Kumarakom Lake Resort, Brunton Boatyard, HATS (Homestay Association),  Malabar Tourism Council, Casino Hotel, Vythiri Village, Courtyard Muziris, TDPC  (Thekkady), Club Mahindra Munnar, Four Points by Sheraton, Blanket Munnar, Abad Gokulam Grande Kumarakom, Crowne Plaza, The Fern, TPC Monsoon, Courtyard by  Marriott, Holiday Inn.

In a show of unity and sportsmanship, exhibition matches will be held featuring teams from  Kerala Travel Society Management Committee, Tourism Professionals Club Management Committee ,TPC Seniors , Kerala Travel and Tourism Consortium , My Kerala Tourism Association, Travancore Tourism Professionals.

The spirit and success of Shoot the Rain are driven by Mr. Sheik Ismail, President  of  Tourism Professionals Club. “Each year, we see growing enthusiasm from our peers in the travel and hospitality sector.  That energy drives us to elevate this event even further,” he said.

The tournament is curated by Mr. Vineesh Vidya, General Convenor, Mr. Paul M.S. serves as Chairman of the Technical Committee, Mr. Johnson Manish as TPC Secretary ensure the event’s sportsmanship and professionalism.
