Tourism Malaysia Chennai has supported the PCEB x Indigo Sales Mission 2025, a collaborative initiative led by the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) and Indigo Airlines, held from 8 to 15 July 2025 across Bangalore, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Pondicherry, and Chennai.
The sales mission aimed to promote Penang and Malaysia as preferred destinations for MICE, weddings, leisure, and group travel. It also focused on creating early momentum for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026), while strengthening tourism ties between Malaysia and the South Indian market.
A total of 485 travel agents and trade partners participated in the B2B networking sessions across the six cities, demonstrating robust market interest in Malaysia’s tourism offerings. A key highlight of the mission was the promotion of Indigo Airlines’ expanded connectivity to Malaysia, including Bangalore to Kuala Lumpur & Langkawi and Chennai to Kuala Lumpur & Penang

The team also highlighted Indigo’s codeshare partnership with Malaysia Airlines (MH), which allows for single PNR seamless travel from Chennai and Bangalore to Sabah (Kota Kinabalu), Sarawak (Kuching), and other secondary cities in Malaysia. This partnership provides greater accessibility for Indian travelers, particularly for MICE, leisure, and wedding groups seeking multi-destination travel in Malaysia.
Mr. Hishamuddin Mustafa, Director of Tourism Malaysia Chennai, said, “South India remains one of the most important source markets for Malaysia. This collaborative effort with PCEB and Indigo Airlines helps us to directly engage with the travel trade, introduce new routes, and showcase Malaysia’s capabilities in handling MICE, weddings, and leisure travel. We are not only promoting Penang but also secondary destinations like Sabah and Sarawak, which are now more accessible through Indigo and Malaysia Airlines’ codeshare partnership. We look forward to working closely with the Indian travel industry as we prepare for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026).”
