The Wedding and MICE Conclave, a pioneering initiative of Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) Society in collaboration with the state government, will attract 55 delegatesfrom 19 foreign countries, as the next month’s three-day event is intended to give a huge stimulus to transform Kerala into a Destination Wedding hub besides a MICE destination.
The inaugural session of the conclave will be held at the Grand Hyatt on Bolgatty Island on August 14 at 5 pm, while the subsequent trade meetings and exhibitions will be held at Le Meridien Kochi on the following two days.
The conclave, with ‘Centre Stage Kerala’ as the theme, seeks to maximize the potentials of tourism beyond the state’s status as a preferred leisure tourist destination in the world. It will have pannel discussions, innovative marketing strategies, logistics and technology deployment in collaboration with large companies allied to MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) and Destination wedding.
So far, 658 buyer registrations have been completed from India and outside. Of these, 603 domestic registrations have been made from 25 states of the country.
The UAE (9), the UK (7), Germany and USA (5) are the top countries with their delegates. Representatives will also be coming from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Oman, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine and Vietnam.
KTM Society President Jose Pradeep said the buyer registrations from foreign countries as well as from within the country will continue to increase. “Such a large mart targeting the niche segment will accelerate the development of business activities,” he added.
As many as 65 exhibition stalls have been set up for sellers. The trade meetings will be held from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Two seminars will also be organized as part of the conclave to chart out the overall development and future vision of the sector.
KTM Society Secretary S Swaminathan said Kerala already has a good reputation as one among the most popular leisure tourist destinations in the world. “We also need to prove our excellence in diversifying tourism,” he pointed out. “This is the first time such a mart is being organized as a collective effort.”
The exhibition platform is reserved for businessmen with extensive experience in the MICE industry and aspiring risers in the field. Wedding planners, luxury resorts, destination wedding venues, floral design, photography, catering and bridal services will have the opportunity to showcase their talent.
Tour programs have also been organized for buyers coming from various places, such as Kochi, Munnar, Kumarakom, Kollam, Kovalam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Bekal.
The conclave will also feature expert-led training workshops and exhibitions of all the attractions that Kerala has to offer in the wedding as well as MICE segment. Overall, the event seeks to bring all the players in this segment under one umbrella.
