In a historic move to strengthen tourism ties, the tourism departments of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Symbolizing a united tourism vision, the agreement aims to boost cross-border travel through joint promotion, the creation of thematic circuits, shared infrastructure development, and cultural exchange. This collaboration is envisioned as a journey “From Maa Ganga to Maa Narmada,” uniting the two states through their shared heritage and sacred rivers.

The signing of the MoU was a centerpiece of a vibrant roadshow and media interaction hosted by Madhya Pradesh Tourism in Lucknow on June 25, 2025. The event was held to showcase the diverse treasures of “The Heart of Incredible India.”
The roadshow was attended by a distinguished lineup of dignitaries from both states, including Mr. Rajendra Shukla, Deputy Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh; Mr. Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, Minister of Tourism, Culture & Religious Trusts & Endowments, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Shri Jaiveer Singh, Minister of Tourism & Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Mr. Sheo Shekhar Shukla IAS, Principal Secretary of Tourism & Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meshram IAS, Principal Secretary Tourism & Culture and Director General, Uttar Pradesh Tourism, and Renowned actor Shri Pankaj Tripathi also graced the event.

The core of this collaboration focuses on several key areas. The states will engage in joint promotion of important destinations and circuits, such as the Shri Ram Path Gaman, Shri Krishna Pathey, and the Buddhist Circuit. They will also work together to develop and promote specific thematic circuits that connect religious and cultural sites along the Ganga and Narmada rivers.
To facilitate easier travel, efforts will be made to improve shared infrastructure and connectivity between the two states. The MoU also includes provisions for cultural exchange programs to further strengthen ties. A strong emphasis has been placed on sustainable tourism practices to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the region for generations to come.
This new partnership is expected to significantly boost tourism, strengthen cultural ties, and contribute to the economic growth of both Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It represents a shared vision to create seamless travel experiences and unlock the immense potential of the region’s spiritual and cultural landscape.
