Mr. Abraham George, Chairman and Managing Director of Kochi-head quartered Intersight Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd., has been inducted in the National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC) as an ‘individual expert member’, in a major recognition of his expertise and services in the tourism sector.
Mr. George, who is a recipient of the State Tourism Award for the Best Inbound Tour Operator of Kerala, had earlier served a stint (2013-17) as President of the Kerala Travel Mart Society, which organises the annual Kerala Travel Mart (KTM), India’s largest tourism event.
The NTDC has been constituted to act as a think tank to advise the Union Ministry of Tourism on various policy matters relating to promotion of tourism in the country that would make India a global tourism hub, and it includes private sector stakeholders as its members.
Mr. George’s impressive portfolio of achievements includes being the Managing Trustee of KTM Foundation; Chairman of Kerala Chapter of Association of Domestic Tour Operator of India (ADTOI); Member, Advisory Committee, Kerala Tourism, Govt. of Kerala; and Member, Regional Advisory Committee – Central Excise and Customs, Kerala.
He is a winner of the 2014 NDTV Award for the Most Influential Person in Tourism India; The Times of India Award for BRAND ICON in Tourism (2014); Young Entrepreneur Award – World Malayali Council, Zurich (2011); and Responsible Tourism Initiative Award by Kerala Tourism for the ‘SarathySauhrudam Project’ (2012).
Launched in 1996 in Kochi, Intersight Tours & Travels (P) Ltd has now turned into a pan-India company with branches in Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Lucknow, Indore, Nagpur, Vadodara and Chandigarh. The company, which notched a turnover of over Rs 1.4 billion in 2017-18, has two overseas offices located in Manchester (UK) and Toronto (Canada).
