Fifteen routes spanning India and Europe will be covered by the new Air India-Icelandair codeshare.
The agreement facilitates streamlined travel to Iceland for Air India passengers and to India for Icelandair patrons.
The national airlines of India and Iceland, Air India and Icelandair respectively, have unveiled a new codeshare agreement. This collaboration is set to greatly improve travel connections between the two nations, providing smooth journey options over 15 routes in both India and Europe.
This pivotal alliance aims to bolster tourism and commercial links between India and Iceland. It will provide travelers with increased adaptability and options, alongside an effortless travel process featuring well-timed connections, harmonized baggage policies, and improved access through key European airport hubs.
The codeshare accord was formally signed by representatives of both airlines during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, on June 02, 2025.

Under the terms of this codeshare arrangement: Air India passengers will enjoy smooth transitions to Icelandair-operated services to Reykjavik (KEF) when connecting via Air India’s European hub cities. Air India will place its ‘AI’ flight identifier on Icelandair services connecting Reykjavik with London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich.
Icelandair travelers will experience convenient onward travel on Air India-operated services to prominent Indian urban centers. Icelandair will apply its ‘FI’ code to Air India flights linking Delhi with Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, and London Heathrow, as well as those connecting Mumbai with Frankfurt and London Heathrow.
Mr. Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India, stated: “We are delighted to initiate this codeshare partnership with Icelandair, bringing together two carriers dedicated to global connectivity. By leveraging our respective strengths, we’re establishing a fluid link between India’s rich destinations and Iceland’s stunning scenery. This collaboration highlights Air India’s goal to broaden its worldwide footprint while offering Icelandair’s clientele straightforward access to India’s varied attractions.”
“This vital collaboration with Air India is a major achievement, unlocking fresh travel possibilities from our North American and European networks to and from India,” said Mr. Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair. “It will integrate Iceland with Air India’s comprehensive network, enabling us to present Iceland’s unique offerings to their customer base. We are committed to growing our portfolio of airline partners, prioritizing collaborations with airlines like Air India that deliver excellent service and connectivity.”
Pending necessary regulatory authorizations, these codeshare services will be gradually rolled out for booking via each airline’s designated sales platforms.
