Air India Express is set to launch direct flights connecting Bengaluru with Kathmandu, marking the vibrant Nepali capital as the 55th destination in its rapidly expanding network. This new route strengthens the airline’s footprint in the subcontinent, with the inaugural flight scheduled for June 1, 2025. Travelers can now book tickets through the airline’s website, airindiaexpress.com, and other major booking platforms, with introductory fares starting at ₹8,000 for Xpress Lite and ₹8,500 for Xpress Value.

Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, Kathmandu is celebrated for its unique fusion of ancient heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. As a gateway to Everest treks and home to sacred sites like the Pashupatinath Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the city serves as a vital hub for both spiritual and adventure tourism. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Pokhara, Lumbini (the birthplace of Lord Buddha), and the medieval charm of Bhaktapur.

Mr. Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, shared his excitement about the new service: “We are delighted to expand our footprint to Nepal, our neighboring country in the subcontinent, further strengthening the deep-rooted cultural and economic ties we share. This new route brings people, tales, and traditions closer, while reinforcing our vision of making travel more accessible and meaningful. It also builds on our recent expansion into short-haul international leisure destinations such as Bangkok and Phuket.”
This new route also provides convenient one-stop connections to Kathmandu via Bengaluru from 20 cities across India, including Amritsar, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram. Additionally, two international cities, Abu Dhabi and Dammam, will now have seamless one-stop access to Kathmandu.
From Bengaluru, Air India Express operates over 450 weekly flights, connecting directly to 31 domestic and three international destinations, including Abu Dhabi, Dammam, and now Kathmandu. The airline also offers one-stop connectivity from Bengaluru to six domestic cities and 14 international destinations, such as Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore, further enhancing its robust network.
