Bellona Hospitality, the distinguished hospitality wing of The Phoenix Mall of Asia, is thrilled to unveil the grand inauguration of Eight, a luxurious Pan-Asian bar and restaurant marking its debut in Bangalore. Situated at the heart of the city’s premier luxury retail destination, Eight is poised to redefine Bengaluru’s cocktail and culinary scene with its innovative East & Oriental flavours. Drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of the ancient Orient, Eight embarks on a journey of taste and tradition, promising an unparalleled gastronomic experience.
Helmed by Prashant Issar, Director of Bellona Hospitality, and culinary virtuoso Chef Sagar Sarkar, Eight derives its name from the auspicious number in Chinese culture, symbolizing qualities such as intuition, wealth, prosperity, innovation, abundance, strength, and tradition. The bar, cleverly partitioning the space, features a corrugated corten steel apron and metal bulkhead intertwined with rice paper, setting the stage for an exquisite and authentic culinary adventure. Guests can delight in an array of delicacies spanning Canton, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Japan, alongside signature dishes from forgotten corners of China.
Speaking on the occasion, Prashant Issar expressed his excitement, stating, “We are immensely thrilled to introduce Eight to Bengaluru. The city’s burgeoning F&B landscape provides us with a vibrant canvas to blend the richness of Asian cuisine with its dynamic energy, offering an experience that transcends mere dining. We aim to craft a space where every dish, cocktail, and moment is meticulously curated to captivate our patrons and redefine their culinary expectations.”
Eight presents an array of sushi varieties, including sashimi, nigiri, maki cones, uramaki, temaki, tataki, and ceviche, along with a tantalizing platter of tempura, providing diners with an immersive experience in the art of hand-rolled sushi. The Robata grill showcases a selection of izakaya specialities to complement the cocktails, while dim sums, Cheung funs, puffs, buns, and baos from Canton take centre stage.
Committed to uncompromising quality, Eight’s menu features an assortment of Curries and Wok dishes prepared with the freshest ingredients. From Japanese Eggplant Tobanjan with chilli bean Sauce to Water Chestnut and Asparagus Dimsum, the culinary offerings promise to tantalize the taste buds. Vegetarian delights include Tofu & Eggplant in Black Bean Claypot Truffle Edamame & Blue Pea Jasmine Fried Rice. Noteworthy House Specials include the Steamed Indian Salmon with Spicy Lemongrass Jus and the Jasmine Smoked New Zealand Pork Ribs served with Jaggery, Yakiniku Sauce, and Chinese Red Rice.
In addition to epicurean delights, Eight presents a curated selection of crafted beverages and signature cocktails designed to complement the flavours of the cuisine, curated by mixologist Mr Alphones. From the Hokkaido Martini to the Kill Bill Gimlet and Thai Boxer, each concoction offers a unique blend of flavours, promising a truly remarkable drinking adventure.
Designed with a touch of Asian opulence, the bar and restaurant exude sophistication, featuring stained wood railings, contemporary Asian chairs, and faux stone walls. The focal point of Eight is the bar, dividing the space into four sections accessible from all directions, while intimate table settings provide privacy with metallic glass panels and wood adorned with hand-painted calligraphy. A raised floor section offers glimpses into the kitchen, adjacent to a serene terrace adorned with tall-back Asian-style sofas and an eclectic mix of chairs. Striking features such as towering metal and glass doors effortlessly lead guests from the front to the restaurant and patio at the back, ensuring a culturally infused dining experience.
With its fusion of chic gastropub ambience and cutting-edge Asian cuisine, Eight promises to captivate and elevate Bengaluru’s gastronomic landscape. Following successful launches in Mumbai and Lucknow, Eight is poised to create a realm where every dish narrates a tale and each moment is flawlessly crafted to offer the very best to its clientele.
