Ethiopian Airlines, recognized as Africa’s largest and one of the globe’s most rapidly expanding airlines officially inaugurated its new passenger service to Hyderabad, India on June 16, 2025. This marks a significant step in the airline’s strategy to bolster connectivity between Africa, India, and beyond, offering travelers enhanced convenience and a wider array of travel choices.
The thrice-weekly flights commenced with a lively ceremony held at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. The event saw the presence of high-ranking government officials, ambassadors, esteemed guests, and prominent figures from the aviation sector, all celebrating this new link.


The newly introduced flight schedule is as follows:
ET 682: Addis Ababa (ADD) to Hyderabad (HYD) – Operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
ET 683: Hyderabad (HYD) to Addis Ababa (ADD) – Operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
During the launch event, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm for the new route: “We are delighted to introduce this new passenger service to Hyderabad, which now becomes our fifth destination in India. We are confident that this flight will not only facilitate air travel but also significantly contribute to strengthening trade and tourism links between our two regions.”


Mr. Tasew further emphasized the airline’s commitment to growth: “This route provides convenient passenger transport services, and Ethiopian Airlines will continue to actively seek new opportunities to expand its network within India and the broader region. As the leading carrier on the continent, renowned for its extensive connectivity and exceptional service, we are dedicated to addressing the increasing demand for air travel and fostering robust cross-border partnerships.”
Prior to this launch, Ethiopian Airlines already maintained a substantial presence in India, operating over fifty weekly dedicated passenger and cargo flights to four major Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. The addition of Hyderabad to its network further solidifies Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to serving the escalating travel demand within India. This expansion offers passengers greater flexibility and seamless connections to and from India, as well as throughout the wider region.
