The festivities began with Macron joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a grand roadshow in Jaipur, where slogans of “Jai Shri Ram,” large saffron flags, and colorful folk dance teams of Rajasthan created a lively atmosphere. The “shobha yatra” (public procession) at Badi Chaupar in the heart of the Old City welcomed the distinguished guests with enthusiasm, setting the tone for the splendid visit.
Mr. Kalraj Mishra, Governor of Rajasthan warmly received President Macron at the airport, paving the way for a royal experience. The French President’s first stop was the historic Amber Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, symbolizing India’s architectural prowess and rich cultural tapestry. Accompanied by Mr.S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister, and Ms. Diya Kumari Deputy Chief Minister, who is also holding the Tourism portfolio, Macron explored the fort, expressing keen interest in its unique architecture and appreciating Rajasthani paintings. The visit included a walk around the fort and interactions with local artists, providing Macron with an immersive experience of Rajasthan’s cultural heritage.
Later, at Jaipur, the Pink City of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Macron for a guided tour of the astronomical observatory. The leaders then embarked on an open-top vehicle tour through Jaipur’s heart, concluding at the Sanganeri Gate with a stop in front of the iconic Hawa Mahal.
