Gandikota to be on the global tourism map, says AP Chief Minister

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, on the occasion of his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s birth anniversary the former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, laid the foundation for three opulent five-star hotels in collaboration with the Oberoi Group. These prestigious establishments are poised to grace the landscapes of Gandikota, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati, strategically positioned in key regions of the state.

The groundbreaking ceremony held at Gandikota was a consequential step following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked with the Oberoi Group during the Global Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam in March 2023. Distinguished government officials, alongside Vikram Oberoi, the Managing Director of the Oberoi Group, endorsed this momentous agreement in the presence of the Chief Minister.

During the auspicious bhoomi puja, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his firm belief that these hotels would elevate Gandikota, often referred to as the Grand Canyon of India, to international acclaim in the world of tourism. He envisioned these hotels generating significant employment opportunities for 500 to 800 individuals, both directly and indirectly, while substantially contributing to the holistic development of Gandikota.

Furthermore, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy encouraged the Oberoi Group to explore the prospect of establishing a golf course in the vicinity, enriching the region’s allure for tourists. He noted, “Today, we have laid the foundation stone for a luxury hotel in Gandikota, and last year, the foundation stone for the Jindal Steel Factory was laid in Jammalamadugu. With this rapid development, this region is poised to become an industrial and tourist hub.”

In his address to the gathering, Vikram Oberoi conveyed his belief that the hotel and resort in Gandikota would act as a catalyst for economic growth and provide employment opportunities for the youth. He underscored the unwavering commitment of the Oberoi Group to the region’s progress and extended his gratitude to the Chief Minister and the government machinery for their steadfast support.

The event also featured interactions with Tirupati District Collector  K Venkataramana Reddy and Visakhapatnam District Collector Dr. A Mallikharjuna, who provided comprehensive insights into the land and facilities allocated to the Oberoi Group for the construction of these esteemed hotels.

Additionally, in his native district of YSR Kadapa, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy unveiled plaques and virtually laid the foundation stone for the seven-star Oberoi Hotels in Gandikota, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati.
