Looking to escape the ordinary and dive into something thrilling this monsoon?

Goa’s monsoon season just got a major adrenaline boost with the return of white-water river rafting, which offers an unforgettable adventure that blends natural beauty with heart-pounding excitement.

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), in partnership with Southern River Adventures and Sports Pvt. Ltd., has kicked off the season’s rafting trips on the Mhadei River in Valpoi, offering a thrilling way to experience the state’s lush hinterlands. It’s one of the most invigorating ways to explore the state’s vibrant landscapes while experiencing the untamed power of its monsoon-fed rivers.

A Thrilling Journey on the Mhadei

Located in the scenic Sattari Taluka, the Mhadei River swells with monsoon rains, creating the perfect conditions for rafting. The 10-kilometer journey features Grade II to III+ rapids, providing a mix of excitement and challenge that’s suitable for both beginners and experienced rafters.

As you navigate the rushing water, you’ll pass through forested valleys and rolling hills, witnessing a side of Goa that is wild, unspoiled, and stunningly beautiful. The experience is a core part of Goa Tourism’s “Goa Beyond Beaches” initiative, which focuses on promoting sustainable, immersive activities away from the coast.

Safety and Accessibility

This adventure is designed to be accessible to everyone, including first-timers and families. Each trip is guided by certified professionals who provide a comprehensive safety briefing and all necessary gear, including life jackets, helmets, and paddles. A full rafting session lasts approximately 90 minutes.

The rafting season runs from June to September, with morning and afternoon sessions available daily, weather permitting. This experience is a key highlight of Goa’s wider monsoon tourism campaign, which aims to position the state as a vibrant year-round destination for discovery and rejuvenation.
