Gulf Air Group Holding to Host Routes World 2024

In a symbolic transition, the 2023 edition of Routes World came to a close, and the hosting baton was officially passed to Gulf Air Group Holding, which will host the 29th edition of the prominent aviation event. Routes World serves as a pivotal gathering for aviation professionals worldwide, bringing together airline, airport, and destination decision-makers to shape global air route networks.

Routes World 2024 is scheduled to convene in the Kingdom of Bahrain from October 6-8. The handover ceremony took place in the presence of a special Bahrain delegation, led by H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, Chairman of Gulf Air Group Holding (GFG), and Mohamed Yousif AlBinfalah, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), among others.

Bahrain’s strategic location in the heart of the Gulf, its proximity to key destinations in Asia, Europe, and Africa, and its role as a vital trading link between the East and the West make it an attractive destination for businesses and airlines seeking to launch or expand their operations. Routes World 2024 will spotlight Bahrain’s extensive aviation history, robust infrastructure, and thriving tourism industry, ultimately fostering opportunities for businesses and international airlines to form valuable partnerships.

Routes World has consistently provided an international platform for decision-makers in the global route development community. This forum has significantly influenced the global air services landscape, with over half of the world’s new routes originating from meetings held during the event. Routes World 2024 anticipates the attendance of Vice Presidents and Heads of Network Planning from 250 carriers, making it a crucial event for the aviation industry.

Steven Small, Director of Routes, emphasized the significance of Routes World 2024, stating, “Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 aims for a productive, robust economy that is sustainable, globally competitive and fair. Routes World will be a critical event for the Kingdom to achieve this aim. By uniting decision-makers from the route development community in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the destination will be at the center of conversations driving growth in global air connectivity.”

H.E. Zayed R. Alzayani, Chairman of Gulf Air Group Holding (GFG), expressed his honor and enthusiasm regarding Bahrain’s role in hosting this globally acclaimed event. He noted that the conference aligns with the goals of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, aimed at positioning the Kingdom as a globally competitive and sustainable economic hub.

During Routes World 2023 in Istanbul, Bahrain played a vital role, contributing to conversations about the future of the global aviation sector. The country proudly presented its participation under the theme “100 years of Bahrain,” showcasing the nation as a prominent tourism destination, celebrating its rich heritage, cultural diversity, and renowned hospitality, all on display at one of the world’s most significant aviation gatherings.
