IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has announced the resumption and expansion of its flight services to mainland China, marking a major milestone in reviving air connectivity between the two Asian powerhouses. The airline will operate daily, non-stop flights from Kolkata to Guangzhou starting October 26, 2025, followed by the launch of daily direct services between Delhi and Guangzhou from November 10, 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
With these two routes, IndiGo becomes the first Indian carrier to re-establish double daily connectivity between India and China, underscoring its pivotal role in rebuilding aviation ties between the world’s second and fourth-largest economies. The flights will be operated using the airline’s advanced Airbus A320neo aircraft, offering a seamless and efficient travel experience for passengers.

Announcing the development, Mr. Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said, “We are delighted to announce the resumption of daily, non-stop flights between India and mainland China. We are proud to be among the first to restore direct connectivity from two major Indian cities. This will once again allow the smooth movement of people, goods, and ideas, while strengthening bilateral ties between two of the world’s most populous and fastest-growing economies. As we take steady strides towards becoming a global aviation player, this marks a significant step in expanding our international network.”
IndiGo had previously operated flights to China before the pandemic and already has operational partnerships and infrastructure in place to ensure a swift resumption. The renewed services are expected to significantly boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, providing new opportunities for business and travel between the two nations

Speaking about the expansion, Mr. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo, added, “We are pleased to enhance our connectivity to China with daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, in addition to the resumed route from Kolkata. The reopening of these routes presents immense potential for economic collaboration, investment, and education between India and China. With this launch, IndiGo connects China to its extensive domestic and international network via Guangzhou, reinforcing our commitment to connect India to the world.”
Tickets for the Kolkata–Guangzhou route will open for sale from October 3, 2025, through IndiGo’s official website (www.goIndiGo.in) and mobile application.
The resumption of these flights signals a major leap in IndiGo’s global expansion drive and positions the airline at the forefront of India’s growing aviation and international connectivity ambitions.
