The Korea Tourism Organization’s New Delhi Office (KTO) staged a travel mart and roadshow in Chennai on September 11, 2026, hosted at the ITC Grand Chola, bringing Korea’s tourism trade face-to-face with Tamil Nadu’s travel industry for the first time on this scale.

More than 500 travel trade professionals turned out for the event, alongside 16 Korean destination management companies and five airline partners. The Korea Visa Application Centre also set up a presence at the roadshow, giving attendees direct access to information on visa processes for travel to Korea.
The evening drew a distinguished guest list, including Ms. Hyeran Chun, Consul General, Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai; Mr. Raja Gopal Sunkara, IAS, Director of Tourism and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation; and Mr. Nam Soo Park, Head, Korea Visa Application Centre. Members of several leading trade bodies, including TAAI, TAFI, OTOAI, ETAA, and SKÅL International India, were also present, underscoring the level of industry interest building around the Korea-South India tourism corridor

The roadshow marked the first visit to Chennai for Ms. Cho Yoonmi, Director of KTO’s New Delhi Office. “The presence of 16 DMCs and five airline partners in one room here in Chennai shows just how seriously the industry is taking Korea as a growing destination for Indian travellers,” she said. “I was genuinely encouraged by the enthusiasm we saw from the trade today. We are also working closely with our airline partners to strengthen connectivity from the southern region, making it easier than ever for travellers here to explore Korea. This is just the start. We’re committed to building long-term partnerships across Tamil Nadu and the southern region.”
Beyond the trade interactions, the evening included a presentation by the KTO team on Korea’s tourism offerings, followed by a performance from THE PAINTERS, a Korean live art troupe that blends painting, music, dance, and visual artistry into a single act. The event closed with a gala dinner bringing together trade partners, government officials, and industry representatives.

The Korea Tourism Organization is South Korea’s official National Tourism Organization, operating under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. With a presence across 30 overseas offices worldwide, including its New Delhi office in India, KTO works to position South Korea as a premier global travel destination. Established in May 2008, the KTO New Delhi Office markets Korea’s tourism offerings across India and neighbouring countries, working closely with travel trade partners and media to build the destination’s visibility in the Indian market.
