Lufthansa Establishing a Direct Link from India’s “Silicon Valley” to Munich and Beyond

Lufthansa Facilitates Seamless Travel Between Bengaluru and Munich, Connecting Two Thriving Hubs. Starting on November 4th, 2023, Lufthansa Group introduces a direct air link between the bustling Indian city of Bengaluru and the vibrant Bavarian capital, Munich. Bengaluru, often referred to as India’s “Silicon Valley,” now joins Delhi and Mumbai as the third Indian city with a direct connection through Lufthansa’s acclaimed 5-star Munich hub. With its status as India’s third-largest city and its pivotal role in the IT and aerospace sectors, Bengaluru is a prime addition to Lufthansa’s network.

Focus on India: With a longstanding presence in India spanning over 90 years, the Lufthansa Group is set to operate 64 weekly flights between India and Europe by January 2024. India’s aviation market currently ranks as the third-largest globally. This new Bengaluru-Munich route underscores Lufthansa’s unwavering commitment to the Indian market, with the Lufthansa Group’s capacity to India now exceeding pre-COVID levels.

George Ettiyil, Senior Director – South Asia at Lufthansa Group, shared his thoughts, stating, “This is an incredibly exciting moment to be in India as the country is experiencing remarkable economic growth. It is now the world’s fifth-largest economy and is on track to become the third-largest by 2030. With our more than 90 years of investment in India, when we bought our first new destination in the Asia-Pacific region since the pandemic, Bengaluru was a natural choice.”

Operating three times a week, travelers on this route will arrive in Munich at 8:05 AM on the same day. They can relish their journey on board one of the most contemporary and fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, while savoring a delectable selection of local cuisine and catering, which is customary on all Lufthansa services to India, further elevating their travel experience from India’s “Garden City” to Munich and beyond.
