MALAYSIA FOOD AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL IN MUMBAI

Tourism Malaysia Mumbai is delighted to announce the Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival, a vibrant celebration of Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and culinary delights, scheduled to unfold at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences from 5 to 11 February 2024. The festival promises an immersive experience, featuring captivating cultural performances by Malaysian artists and a showcase of culinary mastery by acclaimed chefs from Malaysia.

The festival’s inauguration will be graced by Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, in the esteemed presence of His Excellency Mr Ahmad Zuwairi Yusoff, Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai, alongside esteemed partners including Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences, Malaysia Airlines, and the National Departments For Culture & Arts, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.

Guests dining at The Fifty Five East Restaurant, Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel and Residences during the festival stand a chance to win flight tickets for two to Malaysia, generously provided by Malaysia Airlines.

Expressing gratitude to the partners, Dato’ Dr Ammar emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating: “The Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival brings together the bold, spicy, and aromatic flavours of Malaysian cuisine, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the diverse cultures that define our nation.”

He further added, “This festival serves as a strategic platform to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and encourage Indian travellers to explore Malaysia. Leveraging the recently announced visa-free policy for Indian tourists until 31 December 2024, we aim to deepen the connection between our nations and enhance Malaysia’s allure as a premier travel destination.”

Meanwhile, His Excellency Mr. Ahmad Zuwairi underscored the strong bilateral relations between India and Malaysia, stating: “India and Malaysia have shared diplomatic ties since 1957, fostering close political, economic, and socio-cultural relations. The Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival aims to showcase Malaysia’s culinary delights, enticing Indian travellers to choose Malaysia as their preferred travel destination.”

India remains a priority market for Malaysia, marked by robust economic ties and cultural connections. In 2023, Malaysia welcomed 14.4 million tourist arrivals between January and September, including 472,479 from India. With 180 weekly flights and 33,374 seats offered between India and Malaysia through airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, and IndiGo, the air connectivity between the two nations is remarkable.

Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), expressed Malaysia Airlines’ enthusiasm to participate as the official airline partner of the Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival in Mumbai. He highlighted the event’s significance in celebrating the strong bond between India and Malaysia and reiterated Malaysia Airlines’ commitment to promoting tourism and strengthening bilateral connections. Travellers can take advantage of special fares for flights from India to Kuala Lumpur starting at just INR 12,996, inviting Indian travellers to savour Malaysia’s rich culinary landscape and cultural heritage aboard Malaysian Hospitality.
