Marriott International’s ‘Road to Give 2023’ Charity Event Leaves a Lasting Impact on Local Communities

The 9th edition of the ‘Road to Give 2023,’ Marriott International’s flagship charity run, concluded successfully across India, leaving behind a trail of inspiration and support for local communities. This unique event encouraged participants from Marriott’s South Asia hotel portfolio to embrace diverse forms of movement, extending beyond traditional running to activities like walking, cycling, swimming, and more. The primary objective of this initiative was to spotlight and bolster charitable organizations committed to uplifting local communities. Notably, the ‘Road to Give 2023’ aligned with the launch of Marriott International’s new people brand, “BE,” which empowers associates to be the best version of themselves.

Marriott International has long been dedicated to fostering a people-centric environment, where associates’ well-being takes center stage. This annual charity run has become an integral part of the Marriott South Asia calendar. It is a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to creating a positive impact on the communities in which it operates. In the current year, the ‘Road to Give 2023’ rallied support from 156 hotels within the Marriott International portfolio in South Asia. These hotels joined forces to raise funds in support of RISING STAR OUTREACH OF INDIA, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and their families, helping them overcome the stigma associated with leprosy and lead healthy, productive lives through quality education, medical care, and community development. This impactful week-long event was organized from October 15th to 29th, 2023.

Ms. Ranju Alex, Area Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, emphasized, “Road to Give 2023 represents a significant step in our mission to uplift local communities through inclusion. This annual run brought together Marriott International associates, their families, and guests in a collective pursuit of a more diverse and inclusive future. We aim to continuously expand and enhance this event, aligning participants with our TakeCare philosophies by introducing innovative elements each year.”

To ensure broad participation from across the country, the run was open to Marriott associates, partners, their families, friends, and guests. They came together to provide support, reflect peacefully, nurture their physical and mental well-being, and, most importantly, be part of a purpose-driven initiative aimed at creating a more united and socially responsible society. Each participating hotel/market added its unique touch, encouraging individuals to enroll and make a difference.
