The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has announced the appointment of Mr. Biswajit Chakraborty as The Cluster General Manager of The Leela Kovalam, A Raviz Hotel and The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel.Kollam in Kerala.
Mr. Chakraborty has over 35 years of experience spread across major Indian Brands like Leela, Oberoi, Taj, and International Hotel Chain Accor Group in various capacities leading from Hotel Operations, Sales, and Marketing to Pre-Openings. He is returning to Kerala to lead the iconic beach destination hotel The Leela Kovalam A Raviz Hotel and the hidden gem of Kerala Backwaters The Leela Ashtamudi A Raviz Hotel.
While resuming his office at Kovalam Biswajit commented ‘I am truly honoured and delighted to take forward the vision of R P Group Chairman Padma Shri Dr. B Ravi Pillai in sync with The Leela Palaces Hotels and Resorts in these two stunning properties. I look forward to working with Leela, now with The Brookefield Asset Management Company, under the dynamic Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar and his vibrant corporate team. I hold Capt. Krishnan Nair’s philosophy of ‘Athithi Devo Bhava’ is very dear and I wish to instill the same further in the future generation of hoteliers through this step in my career. Kerala was always a second home for me; this is a homecoming, where I was the opening General Manager of The Leela Kempinski Kovalam in 2005.
‘In 2009, during my tenure at The Leela Kempinski Kovalam I was fortunate to be the winner of the first ever Hotelier India award and subsequent year privileged to receive the Best Hotel in the Country Award constituted by The Government of India which was presented by Honourable Vice President of India’, Mr. Chakraborty added.
Speaking about the occasion, Mr. Asish Nair, Vice President of R P Group said. ‘We are delighted to welcome Mr. Chakraborty to the family, with whom we share a very sound personal bonding for a long time, and our Chairman Dr. Ravi Pillai was always captivated by Mr. Chakraborty’s extensive experience in successfully managing Uber-Luxury Hospitality products through his unique style of management ‘.
