Ms. Rani George IAS, Secretary, Department of Culture, Government of Kerala has been allotted additional charge of Secretary of Kerala Tourism replacing Dr. Venu V IAS, Principal Secretary by State cabinet.
Dr. Venu, one of the familiar faces in Indian Tourism was holding the additional charge of Tourism department in Kerala since the inception of Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan Government in May 2016, apart from his full charge of Schedule Cast, Schedule Tribes and Back Community Development departments; he was also given the additional charge of Forest & Wildlife recently. Ms. Rani George, a 1996 batch Kerala cadre IAS officer, who was formerly the Director of Kerala Tourism, was later been promoted as the Secretary in charge of Culture & Coir Development departments. Ms. Rani George began her civil service career as the Sub-Collector of Thiruvananthapuram district, after which she held the posts of Director in the Department of Urban Affairs, District Collector of Kottayam, Managing Director of Kerala State Cooperative Bank and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
