Persian culinary journey at The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata

 The Lalit Great Eastern is going all out to offer the taste of North Western Frontier Province and Mughal dishes and is looking ahead to introduce two novel restaurants- 24×7 and Baluchi in Kolkata.

Kolkatans have been on a roll when it comes to dining out and cashing in on the trend is the luxury hospitality major, The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata. The hospitality player is into hosting one-of-a-kind food fest- The Persian culinary trail from Kabul to Kolkata at Alfresco, the all-day dining outlet in the first week of March, this year. The event offers a wide array of culinary flavours starting from Afghanistan to Bengal and gourmet lovers can get to experience the culinary heritage of North Western Frontier Province and Mughal delights. At the same time, the hospitality giant is looking ahead to open the doors of two new food outlets and one banquet during the festive season, this year.

Sunayan Pramanik, Executive Chef, The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata said, “We are rustling up the signature dishes of Kabul, Lahore, Peshawar, Delhi and Bengal.  There will be specialities from Baluchi restaurant as well. Diners can get to savour around 38 dishes at the month-long fest. We have incorporated kebabs like Old Delhi’s Galoti Kebab, and other recipes include Pind di Chhole, Peshawar’s Daal Baluchi, Kabuli Naan and Lahori Chargha- Pashtuni chicken delight. The items are on offer in a la carte and set menu.” Vegetarians can savour Qasr-e Pukhtan and Sindh ke Chhole with Yakhnee Pulao.  

Explained Kamal Raza, General Manager, The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata, “We are planning to unveil a new restaurant- 24×7 spread over an area of 5,500 sq.ft  that will form the largest coffee shop in Kolkata. There are plans to bring Baluchi, the signature pan-Indian restaurant in the city. Our hospitality group is one of the most sought-after properties for MICE travellers. Owing to its strategic location and luxury heritage charm, the corporate sector prefers to host MICE events in our property. There were as many as 200 events held last year including weddings and residential MICE events. We are eyeing to capture mid-size and small-size events with our banquet hall sprawling over 4,000 sq. ft carpet area.”

The hospitality industry in the city is experiencing a surge in MICE travellers. Raza informed, “The city hospitality scene is going through an upward trend in occupancy level in terms of both room and banquet and this has enabled us to strengthen our revenue base. The city is growing in terms of inbound travel and we are hopeful that the upcoming summer months will fare better than last year summer since there is an upsurge in MICE footfall. The hospitality sector is expanding across the county and in keeping with the high demand, the Lalit Suri Hospitality group plans to come up with more number of hotels across 30 destinations in the country. Our group intends to diversify into mid-scale, luxury boutique hotels in future.”
