In a strategic move to bolster Sri Lanka’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO), in partnership with the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), will host the Sri Lanka MICE Tourism Conclave (SLMTC) 2025 on May 24, 2025 at the BMICH, Colombo.
Positioned as a pivotal gathering for Sri Lanka’s tourism ecosystem, SLMTC 2025 will serve as a dynamic platform for industry professionals, academia, and emerging tourism talent to exchange ideas, explore innovations, and shape the future of MICE tourism in the country. The one-day forum will emphasize talent development, innovation, sustainability, and new business models—all critical to the evolution of the industry.

“The MICE sector is one of the most promising avenues for tourism diversification in Sri Lanka. Through collaborative efforts like SLMTC 2025, we aim to unlock fresh opportunities and reposition Sri Lanka as a premier MICE destination in South Asia,” said Mr. Dheera Hettiarachch, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau.
The event will also feature the launch of a Tourism Network, designed to create long-term value by connecting stakeholders across the tourism spectrum. Participants will gain access to actionable insights and global trends, strengthening their ability to innovate and compete in an ever-evolving market.
Highlighting the importance of youth engagement, SLMTC 2025 will welcome participation from leading academic institutions including the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM), Uva Wellassa University, Rajarata University, Sabaragamuwa University, University of Colombo, NSBM Green University, and the University College of Jaffna, all of whom have come on board as knowledge partners.

“SLAITO is committed to building a robust future for tourism in Sri Lanka. SLMTC 2025 is not just an industry event; it’s a forward-looking movement to empower the next generation of tourism leaders and innovators,” stated Mr. Nalin Jayasundera, President of SLAITO.
As the principal trade association for Sri Lanka’s inbound tourism sector, SLAITO continues to play a vital role in advancing the country’s tourism strategy. In parallel, SLCB, the national body for MICE promotion, remains at the forefront of positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive global player in the business events space.
With this collaborative initiative, SLAITO and SLCB reaffirm their shared commitment to fostering innovation, inclusivity, and excellence in tourism.
