Mr. Sunil Kumar R., Managing Director of OK2GO Travel Services Private Limited, Secunderabad has been elected as the President of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), the pioneering travel association in the country for the 2024–2026 terms. The elections were held in Mumbai at ITC Grand Maratha, following TAAI’s 73rd Annual General Meeting. Mr. Sunil Kumar previously served as TAAI President from 2015 to 2019. He won the election with 304 votes, surpassing his competitors, outgoing President Ms. Jyoti Mayal, who received 177 votes, and Mr. Harmandeep Singh Anand, who garnered 286 votes.
The leadership team includes the outgoing Honorary Secretary General Mr Lokesh Bettaiah as Vice President (Triway Travels Private Limited, Bangalore), who secured 417 votes, Mr Shreeram Patel (Unicorn Travels, Ahmedabad) as Honorary Secretary General with 344 votes, and Mr Paras Lakhia (Utopia Travel Services Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad) as Honorary Treasurer. The newly elected Managing Committee includes Mr Amish Desai (Beleast Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore), Mr Gopal Unadkat (Aadesh Travels Private Limited, Rajkot), Mrs Hema RV Chander (Kalpataru Tours India Pvt. Limited, Chennai), Mr Manav Soni (Exclusive Travels Private Limited, Kolkata), Mr P. Lalith Kumar Jain (My Travel Agent Private Limited, Chennai), Mr Rajan Sehgal (Top Travel & Tours (P) Ltd., Delhi) and Mr. Sameer Karnani (Arunodaya Travels, Mumbai).
In his address, Mr Sunil emphasized a “members-first” approach, focusing on addressing challenges collectively. He expressed his gratitude to the members for their support, noting the unprecedented participation of 768 voters from across the country. Mr. Sunil Kumar highlighted the importance of collective responsibility among the leadership team and reaffirmed his commitment to making TAAI more active and visible within the industry.
Reflecting on the significance of the election, Mr Sunil Kumar acknowledged the members’ eagerness for progress and the responsibility of the leadership to meet their expectations. He also stressed the need for the growth of the tourism sector to align with the success of individual travel businesses.
