Tourism Malaysia Hosts International Media for Mega Fam Programme Ahead of MotoGP 2026

Tourism Malaysia is bringing together international media representatives and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) for a five-day familiarisation programme held alongside the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia (MotoGP 2026), combining the excitement of motorsports with experiences of the country’s cultural, culinary and lifestyle attractions.

The programme opened with a Meet & Greet session at IRAMA Dining Kuala Lumpur, welcoming 19 delegates from China, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Thailand. Running from 29 October to 2 November 2026, the Mega Familiarisation (Mega Fam) Programme forms part of the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 (VM2026–2027) campaign.

Mr Mohd Akbal Setia, Deputy Director General (Promotions) of Tourism Malaysia, said the initiative would help strengthen Malaysia’s international profile by giving media representatives and content creators first-hand experience of its sporting events and wider tourism offerings.

“Hosting world-class motorsports events at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) demonstrates Malaysia’s capability to stage major international sporting events while creating opportunities for tourism growth,” he said. Combining the race with cultural, heritage, gastronomy and lifestyle experiences, he added, would reinforce Malaysia’s appeal as a sports tourism destination.

Beyond the Racetrack
A key feature of the itinerary is a Night Track Tour at the Sepang International Circuit, organised through the strategic collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and SIC. The after-dark experience offers delegates a distinctive perspective on the venue ahead of the race weekend.

The programme also introduces participants to Kuala Lumpur’s cultural landmarks and contemporary attractions. Visits include Kuala Lumpur City Gallery, Batu Caves and Thean Hou Temple, alongside a shopping experience at The Exchange TRX and a city tour aboard the KL Hop-On Hop-Off (HOHO) service.

At the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC), delegates will watch a Malaysian cultural dance performance. The itinerary also features a product briefing and guided tour at KLDEX, including its durian museum, an interactive experience at Space & Time Cube Malaysia, and traditional Nusantara cuisine at Tuai + Till Restaurant, Kimpton Naluria Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The highlight is attendance at the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia on 1 November 2026, offering delegates an opportunity to experience the country’s motorsports scene at one of its biggest international sporting events.
International Arrivals Continue to Grow

Malaysia welcomed 32.3 million international visitors from January to September 2026, a 2.4 per cent increase from the 31.5 million recorded during the same period in 2025.

The Mega Fam Programme builds on this momentum by connecting international media with Malaysia’s sporting, cultural and urban experiences. Through the initiative, Tourism Malaysia aims to extend the reach of MotoGP beyond the circuit and encourage visitors to explore more of the country during the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign.
