In a historic collaboration, the Tourism Professionals Club (TPC) based in Kochi has joined hands with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Selangor, alongside Tourism Malaysia, VG Maju Tours, and Mitways Transport & Tours Malaysia, to bolster tourism between India and Malaysia. This partnership aims to promote both Kerala and Malaysia in their respective countries, facilitating seamless and enjoyable travel experiences for Indian visitors to Malaysia and Malaysian travelers exploring India.
A delegation of 24 members from TPC recently arrived in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, for a series of business-to-business meetings and to explore Malaysia’s diverse tourist attractions on October 5th and 9th. This marks the first-ever International Familiarization trip in the history of the Tourism Professionals Club, and it signifies a significant step towards strengthening ties between the two nations in the realm of tourism.
Mr. Shaik Ismail, President of TPC, emphasized the benefits of this association for Indian travelers, highlighting the opportunity to explore the vibrant attractions in Malaysia. He also noted the advantages for Malaysian travelers, particularly those heading to the southern part of India, where TPC has a robust network and extensive knowledge of the region and its destinations.
According to Mr. Ratheesh R Nath, Secretary of TPC, the club comprises over 20 tourism professionals from Kerala who have come to Malaysia to explore new possibilities in destination Malaysia. Their objective is to offer fresh and exciting products to Indian customers after thoroughly reviewing existing itineraries.
Mr. Manoharan Periasamy, Senior Director- International Promotion ( Asia & Africa), Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, expressed enthusiasm about MATTA Selangor members visiting destinations in southern India and promoting them among Malaysian travelers, especially the significant Indian-origin population residing in different parts of Malaysia. He noted a rising trend of Malaysians traveling to various destinations in India and anticipated a substantial increase in outbound tourism to India. The connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and various South Indian airports is at an all-time high, presenting an ideal opportunity to enhance travel experiences and financial prospects for members of both associations in the near future.
As part of the familiarization trip to Malaysia, MATTA Selangor chapter has meticulously organized an immersive experience for the TPC team, allowing them to delve into the essence of “Truly Asia.” The itinerary includes visits to iconic destinations such as the historic town of Malacca, which is a UNESCO World Heritage City. Here, TPC members will explore renowned sites like the 16th-century Portuguese St. Paul’s Church, A Famosa fortress, the Stadthuys in the Red Square, and the vibrant Jonker Street with its bustling street market, situated at the heart of Chinatown.
The journey continues with a visit to the famous Genting Highlands, with stops at attractions like Batu Caves, Awana Cable Car, and Sky Avenue at First World Plaza. The group will then proceed to Kuala Lumpur, where they will embark on a city tour encompassing the King’s Palace, the National Monument, Lake Garden, the National Mosque, Independent Square, and a photo stop at the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Finally, the trip concludes with a thrilling exploration of various amusement parks, and theme parks, including Scream Park, Extreme Park, and Nickelodeon Park.
This collaboration between TPC Kochi and MATTA Selangor signifies a promising step toward boosting tourism between India and Malaysia, fostering cultural exchanges, and creating unforgettable travel experiences for tourists from both nations.
