Xandari Resorts: 25 Years of Pioneering Eco-Luxury in Kerala

Xandari Resorts, the hospitality brand of the Muthoot Group, is proud to celebrate 25 years of leading eco-luxury tourism in Kerala. As global awareness of sustainability and climate responsibility grows, Xandari’s unique fusion of high-end hospitality and environmental stewardship has redefined modern luxury.

Xandari’s quarter-century journey has established it as a global benchmark for conservation-focused tourism. The brand is deeply committed to community partnerships and crafting immersive, authentic traveler experiences. This dedication is evident across its three distinctive resorts in Kerala, all sharing a vision of environmental protection and local engagement: Cardamom County by Xandari near the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Thekkady; Xandari Riverscapes in Alappuzha, set on the expansive Vembanad Lake; and Xandari Pearl Beach Resort in Marari, located along the stunning Mararikulam shoreline.

Notably, Xandari also established Kerala’s first ISO-certified 4-star resort and holds the TOFTigers Pug-Eco Rated certification. The PUG (Practices Under Guidelines) certification, awarded by TOFTigers, is a green labeling system that recognizes resorts for their sustainable operating practices, further underscoring Xandari’s commitment to high standards. This dedication to sustainability aligns with global best practices, exemplified by Xandari Resort and Spa in Costa Rica—a 40-acre plantation that holds the Elite level CST certification, the highest level of Costa Rica’s Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) program. This highlights Xandari’s proactive approach to integrating international standards into its operations in Kerala.

“As we celebrate this significant milestone, we view Xandari not merely as a hospitality brand, but as a platform where ideas, cultures, and traditions converge,” said Mr. George M. George, Managing Director, Xandari Resorts. “Our philosophy is rooted in fostering meaningful exchanges between the local community, our dedicated team of ‘Xandarians,’ and global travelers. True travel experiences extend beyond sightseeing—they encompass culture, heritage, food, history, and ethics.”

Mr. George added, “The Xandari portfolio of resorts, strategically located across Kerala’s distinct ecosystems of forest, backwaters, and beach, truly captures the essence of the region. For a comprehensive and authentic experience of ‘God’s Own Country’s’ diverse natural landscapes, Xandari stands as the premier choice. We strive to foster these enriching interactions, ensuring every journey leaves a lasting impact on both our travelers and the communities we serve.”

Over the years, Xandari has consistently set benchmarks in sustainable tourism. Initiatives include a complete ban on single-use plastics across all its resorts, the installation of EV charging stations for eco-conscious travelers, and the adoption of solar energy, which now powers the majority of its operations. Beyond environmental sustainability, Xandari strongly champions local farming and artisan communities. This ensures that every traveler experience is both enriching and responsible, contributing to the local economy—as the majority of employees are from the local community—and preserving Kerala’s cultural heritage.
