Yashaswini B IAS Appointed as Director of Arunachal Pradesh Tourism

Yashaswini B, a 2020-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as the new Director of Tourism for the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

She takes on this new role after a brief tenure as the District Collector of North Goa, where she was recognized for her administrative efficiency and people-centric approach. Before that, she served as the Director of the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, and concurrently as the Managing Director of the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation (GITDC). She also held an additional charge as Director of Fisheries, showcasing her administrative versatility.

Yashaswini’s journey in public service is a story of dedication and academic excellence. Hailing from Banooru village in Karnataka, she graduated with a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru. She cracked the UPSC Civil Services Examination on her very first attempt, securing an All India Rank of 71 at the age of 24.

Beginning her civil service career as Deputy Collector of North Goa in October 2022, she quickly earned a reputation for effective governance. Known for her humility and accessibility, she also uses platforms like Instagram to engage with citizens and inspire civil service aspirants.

Drawing from her grassroots experience in Goa, a major tourism hub, she understands how tourism can transform people’s lives. She is also well-versed in the challenges of both international and domestic tourism markets. As she steps into her new role, expectations are high that she will bring a fresh perspective to Arunachal Pradesh’s tourism strategy. Her administrative skills and youthful energy are expected to be key in promoting sustainable travel, community-based tourism, and digital innovation to unlock the state’s full potential.
