Indian Travel Trends: Surge in Searches for Beach, Mountain Escapes, and European Destinations Ahead of Holi and Easter Long Weekend
As the festive Holi and Easter long weekend approaches, Airbnb’s latest search data sheds light on the evolving travel preferences of Indian holidaymakers. From serene beaches to historic European cities, Indian travellers are embracing diverse experiences, seeking enrichment and relaxation in equal measure.
Domestically, South Goa emerges as the top destination with a staggering 330% increase in searches, positioning it as the preferred beach getaway for the upcoming long weekend. Alongside, cultural hubs like Varanasi, Jaipur, and Pondicherry, as well as scenic hill stations like Mussoorie, Ooty, and Manali, are also witnessing a surge in interest, catering to varied preferences for short getaways.
Internationally, Athens takes the lead with a remarkable 400% spike in searches, capturing the imagination of Indian travellers with its historical allure. Istanbul, Bangkok, and Rome closely follow, offering a blend of cultural richness and vibrant experiences that resonate deeply with Indian explorers.
The search trends reflect a strong preference for beachfront stays, breathtaking views, and luxurious pools, indicative of a collective yearning for scenic beauty and relaxation. Furthermore, there is a notable 70% increase in bookings for non-urban destinations, accompanied by a 20% rise in family-centric searches, highlighting a shift towards tranquil settings and shared experiences.
