Telangana Tourism Gears Up to Host Landmark 72nd Miss World Festival

Hyderabad is set to become the epicentre of global attention as Telangana Tourism proudly prepares to host the 72nd Miss World Festival from May 10th to 31st, 2025. This prestigious international event signifies a monumental occasion for both India and Telangana, promising a worldwide showcase of the state’s rich tourism potential and vibrant cultural heritage. With contestants from over 120 nations expected to converge in South India’s heart, Hyderabad and Telangana’s heritage, renowned hospitality, and ambitious spirit are poised to take centre stage in the global arena.

In a commitment to inclusivity, the Government of Telangana has initiated a public engagement program, offering complimentary access passes via an official online platform, underscoring the state’s dedication to local participation and fostering collective pride in this international celebration.

Mr. Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana, has emphasised the importance of conducting the #MissWorld2025 celebrations with utmost prestige, recognising their potential to significantly enhance Telangana’s global reputation. He noted the participation of contestants from 116 countries and directed officials to ensure impeccable hospitality for all guests, leaving no room for shortcomings. The Chief Minister highlighted the expected presence of nearly 3,000 media representatives from both India and abroad to cover the event. He instructed that delegates from various countries should be welcomed with Telangana’s traditional and cultural warmth, and that all arrangements must be flawless from the beginning to the conclusion of the event. Directing all departments to work in close coordination, he instructed officials to efficiently manage their assigned responsibilities.

The Chief Minister has mandated that security arrangements be meticulously planned and executed in alignment with the schedule of events from May 10th to 31st, suggesting the appointment of a nodal officer for each event. The opening ceremony is scheduled for the evening of May 10th at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, with the grand finale taking place on May 31st. The Chief Minister has called for the successful execution of every program throughout the event.

Considering that Miss World contestants will be visiting significant locations such as #Charminar, #LaadBazaar, the Telangana Talli statue, the #Secretariat, and other tourist hotspots across the state, the Chief Minister stressed the critical need for proper transport and accommodation arrangements, along with stringent security measures at all these sites. He also directed officials to prepare comprehensive contingency plans to address any unforeseen or undesirable situations.

To highlight the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment, the Chief Minister instructed arrangements for the contestants to visit the#DWCRA Bazaars organised by IKP women and to attend the Indian Premier League Cricket match semifinals at Uppal Stadium. He emphasised the necessity of ensuring no traffic disruptions or power outages in areas hosting Miss World events in Hyderabad, and that precautionary measures are taken by weather forecasts. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and waterworks departments have been instructed to remain vigilant in case of strong winds or rainfall to prevent any inconvenience in the Greater Hyderabad area.

The Chief Minister has also ordered enhanced security around hotels accommodating foreign guests and at Gachibowli Stadium, Charminar, Laad Bazaar, Chowmahalla Palace, and the Secretariat surroundings. He suggested extending invitations to public representatives and celebrities from various sectors to the Miss World 2025 opening ceremony on behalf of the state government. Furthermore, he directed arrangements for students from government Gurukul schools, BC, SC, ST welfare residential schools, model schools, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas to attend the Miss World celebrations for one day. Lastly, he instructed that the entire city of Hyderabad be adorned with arches, lights, and hoardings during the event days, and that major junctions and historic sites be beautifully decorated to reflect the festive atmosphere of Miss World. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy recently conducted a high-level review meeting on the Miss World 2025 arrangements at the Command Control Centre.

As the contestants begin their arrival, Hyderabad is extending a traditional and heartfelt welcome at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, adorned with floral decorations and festive toranas of mango and banana leaves, setting a culturally rich tone for the event. Early arrivals, including Miss Canada, Emma Deanna Cathryn Morrison, and Miss Brazil, Jessica Scandiuzzi Pedroso, were greeted with classical performances and ceremonial honours, embodying Telangana’s deep-rooted culture and gracious hospitality.

At the official press launch held at Trident Hyderabad, Miss World Chair Julia Morley CBE lauded Telangana for its alignment with the Miss World ethos of “Beauty with a Purpose,” stating, “This state reflects the spirit of our mission—blending beauty, purpose, and unity. Telangana, with its vibrant modernity and profound cultural essence, is the ideal host.” Joining her were Telangana’s Minister for Tourism & Culture, Mr. Jupally Krishna Rao, Mr. Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Special Chief Secretary for Tourism, Youth, and Culture, senior government officials, and the special guest, actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood, who will serve as a jury member and be honoured for his humanitarian endeavors. Miss India 2023, Nandini Gupta, representing her country on home ground, expressed her pride in welcoming the world to India’s land of diversity and warmth.

Minister Jupally Krishna Rao emphasised the strategic importance of hosting the Miss World event in promoting Telangana as a multifaceted tourism destination, noting, “This event provides us with a unique platform to showcase Telangana’s cultural richness, spiritual heritage, and modern infrastructure, while simultaneously opening avenues for international tourism and investment.” Highlighting that Telangana recorded 1.55 lakh foreign tourist arrivals in 2024, he stated the government’s aim to significantly boost this number by leveraging the global visibility offered by the Miss World platform to showcase its heritage sites and investment opportunities in sectors such as hospitality, wellness, arts, and culture.

The Miss World itinerary has been thoughtfully curated to provide the contestants with an immersive experience of Telangana’s unique essence, including the Opening Ceremony on May 10th at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium featuring captivating tribal dances and a showcase of Telangana’s folk traditions. From May 12th to 21st, contestants will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Ramappa Temple, the iconic Charminar, the bustling Laad Bazaar, the historic Chowmahalla Palace, the traditional Pochampally village, and the revered Yadadri temple, with experiences in medical tourism, eco-tourism, and local handicrafts also planned. The Miss World Sports Finale will take place on May 17th at Gachibowli, followed by a tour of the renowned Ramoji Film City. Between May 18th and 20th, the delegates will experience technology and security immersion at the Telangana Police Command Centre, participate in cultural celebrations at Tank Bund, and engage in entrepreneurship sessions at T-Hub. The grand finale of the 72nd Miss World pageant is scheduled for May 31st at HITEX Arena, Hyderabad, followed by the winners attending the Telangana State Formation Day reception at Raj Bhavan on June 2nd, where they will meet the Governor and Chief Minister.

Telangana’s robust infrastructure is a key highlight throughout the festival, with DGP Jitender confirming comprehensive security arrangements for all international delegates and participants, underscoring Hyderabad’s capacity to host large-scale global events safely and efficiently.
