The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission in Chennai, is set to host two significant MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) roadshows in India. These events, which include evening networking sessions, will take place in Hyderabad and Bengaluru during the first week of July 2025, as part of a strategic effort to bolster Sri Lanka’s presence in India, its leading tourism source market.
The first roadshow is scheduled for July 1st, 2025, at the Taj Krishna Hotel in Hyderabad. This will be followed by the second event on July 3rd, 2025, at the Taj West End in Bengaluru.

India continues to be Sri Lanka’s primary source of tourists, accounting for 20% of all international arrivals. From January 1st to May 31st, 2025, Sri Lanka welcomed 1,029,803 tourists, with 204,060 visitors originating from India. This consistent growth highlights the increasing demand and strong connectivity between the two nations. Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has already generated over USD 1.54 billion in earnings within the first six months of 2025.
Travel between Sri Lanka and India remains highly accessible. SriLankan Airlines operates 90 weekly flights connecting Sri Lanka to nine Indian cities. Additionally, IndiGo and Air India offer daily flights to both Hyderabad and Bengaluru, ensuring convenient and swift access for both business and leisure travelers.
These upcoming roadshows will highlight Sri Lanka’s diverse MICE and tourism offerings, emphasizing that the island nation is fully prepared and welcoming for leisure, business, and corporate travel. The events are specifically designed to engage MICE tour operators, media representatives, influencers, corporate leaders, trade associations, and key stakeholders from the Indian travel industry.
A 20-member delegation, comprising leading tour operators and hoteliers from Sri Lanka, will spearhead this initiative, showcasing the country’s varied attractions and renowned hospitality.

The roadshows are structured to foster meaningful B2B (Business-to-Business) interactions and open discussions. Evening networking sessions will further solidify these connections in a more relaxed environment. Press conferences in both cities will aim to generate robust media coverage and enhance Sri Lanka’s visibility as a premier travel destination. Additionally, a performance by a Sri Lankan cultural troupe will provide a vibrant highlight, drawing attention to the nation’s rich heritage.
Mr. Dheera Hettiarachchi, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, stated, “Sri Lanka is an exceptional MICE destination due to its close proximity and strong connectivity, offering a cost-effective and attractive option for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions. These roadshows will underscore Sri Lanka’s growth and help strengthen our ties with India.”
Mrs. Malkanthi Welikala, Manager – Marketing, SLCB, added, “This event underscores Sri Lanka’s expanding MICE capabilities and world-class venues. It will also build anticipation for the 5th Edition of the Sri Lanka MICE Expo, scheduled for September 22nd–26th, 2025, in Colombo, which is expected to attract over 100 international buyers from 15 countries.”
