Jellyfish Watersports Earns IAYP Recognition, Sets Sights on India’s Most Ambitious River Adventure Events

Kerala’s pioneering adventure tourism outfit, Jellyfish Watersports & Outdoor Adventure, has earned official IAYP Activity Provider status – the first such accreditation on the Malabar coast – while simultaneously preparing to lead two of India’s most high-profile river paddling events.

Jellyfish Watersports & Outdoor Adventure, one of India’s most respected adventure and water sports organisations, has announced a milestone that places it among an elite circle of internationally accredited experiential learning providers. The centre, headquartered at Azhinjilam on the Malabar coast, has been officially recognised as an International Award for Young People (IAYP) Activity Provider – a distinction active in over 120 countries under the programme that originated as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Founded and led by Mr. Kaushiq Kodithodika, a celebrated ocean adventure navigator and one of Kerala’s foremost names in water-based exploration, Jellyfish Watersports has built a formidable reputation through its professional team, exacting safety standards, and commitment to responsible adventure. The centre has long served as a training ground for aspiring adventurers, divers, paddlers, and ocean enthusiasts from across the country.

A Global Badge of Honour: IAYP Accreditation

The IAYP accreditation enables Jellyfish Watersports to deliver adventure and outdoor activities that count formally towards the IAYP framework – a globally recognised programme for youth development encompassing skill-building, physical challenge, volunteering, and expeditions. For schools and educational institutions, the recognition carries particular weight: students participating in eligible programmes can now count their Jellyfish experiences directly towards their IAYP journey, building confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and environmental awareness within a structured, internationally benchmarked framework.

“Being an IAYP Activity Provider means Jellyfish Watersports is now officially recognised to deliver adventure and outdoor activities that count towards the International Award for Young People. This enables us to work closely with schools, universities, youth organisations, and corporate youth programmes to deliver internationally recognised outdoor learning experiences. It is another important step in our mission to use adventure as a platform for education, character development, and lifelong learning.”  – Kaushiq Kodithodika, Founder, Jellyfish Watersports

The accreditation is not simply an institutional honour. It represents a structural shift in how adventure education is delivered on the Malabar coast – one that ties real outdoor experiences to a globally portable credential that universities, employers, and youth organisations across 120 countries recognise and respect.

Kerala’s Adventure Tourism Moment

The milestones achieved by Jellyfish Watersports come at a pivotal moment for Kerala’s tourism sector, as the state seeks to diversify its offering beyond backwaters and Ayurveda into more active, youth-oriented, and experiential categories. River paddling, ocean kayaking, and coastal adventure – segments in which Jellyfish has consistently excelled – are among the fastest-growing adventure tourism niches globally.

With an internationally accredited framework now in place for youth education, and two headline river events capable of drawing national and global participants, Jellyfish Watersports under Mr. Kodithodika’s leadership is poised to define the next chapter of Kerala’s adventure tourism story.
