The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), the country’s apex body representing close to 2,500 companies across travel, tourism, hospitality and MICE is gearing up for a landmark celebration. The association will commemorate 75 years of service to the Indian travel industry at its 69th TAAI Convention & Exhibition, to be held in Kolkata, West Bengal.
Dates & Venue: The three-day convention will take place from October 25 to 27, 2026, at ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata.
A Diamond Jubilee Milestone: Founded in 1951, TAAI has spent seven and a half decades at the heart of India’s travel and tourism story, championing the interests of the domestic, outbound and inbound tourism trade while uniting travel professionals nationwide. Its member base of roughly 2,500 companies is especially active in the MICE segment, and the association has long positioned India as a destination of global significance-an effort it continues to carry forward both at home and abroad.
Bringing the Convention Home: In a notable shift, TAAI’s Managing Committee has chosen to host this year’s convention within India rather than overseas, a decision the association says draws inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for Incredible India. The move underscores TAAI’s intent to boost domestic tourism while offering the global travel fraternity a firsthand look at India’s tourism potential.
A Gathering of the Industry: The Kolkata convention is expected to draw close to 900 delegates and media representatives from across the country. Government leaders will share the platform with stakeholders from airlines, hotels, destinations, technology firms, and the MICE ecosystem, making it a wide-ranging forum for dialogue, collaboration and networking on the road ahead for Indian tourism.
Looking Back, and Ahead: For TAAI, the 69th convention carries added weight as it doubles as a celebration of 75 years of leadership and service – a rare milestone for any industry association. The Kolkata gathering will serve as both a tribute to that legacy and a launchpad for the next chapter of India’s travel and tourism growth story.
TAAI President Sunil Kumar called the convention a special milestone for the association, noting that bringing it to India – and to Kolkata in particular – reflects TAAI’s commitment to Incredible India and to strengthening domestic tourism. He added that the association looks forward to bringing the Indian travel fraternity together in the city to build a platform for collaboration and future growth.
