Mr. Arif Mohammed Khan, Honourable Governor of Kerala, will inaugurate the International Conference on Global Trends in Tourism Studies – ‘Tourism: A Better Future for All’ at Kerala Institute of Travel & Tourism Studies in Trivandrum on September 28. The two-day conclave is being organized to mark the 30th Anniversary of the founding of the institute.
Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, Devasoms, and Cooperation, will preside over the function. Mr. Hae Guk Hwang, Deputy Director, Regional Department for Asia and the Pacific, UNWTO, Mr. Anand Kumar IAS, Secretary, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India and Founder Director of KITTS, Mr. V.S. Shivakumar, Member of Legislative Assembly will deliver special address on the occasion. While Ms. Rani George IAS, Secretary Kerala Tourism will welcome the gathering, Dr. Rajashree Ajith, Director, KITTS will present the report. Mr. Baby Mathew, President, Kerala Travel Mart, Mr. E.M. Najeeb, Senior Vice-President, IATA, and Member National Tourism Advisory Council, and Mr. M.Vijayakumar, Chairman, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation will also speak on the occasion.
KITTS is an autonomous institute under the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, established in 1988, to cater to the needs of the global tourism industry. This ISO certified (9001: 2008) institute conducts various courses and training programs for both students and professionals in the tourism industry.
The plenary session on Day 1 will discuss ‘A Retrospective Journey on 30 years of Kerala Tourism followed by technical sessions on Tourism and Technology and Heritage Tourism.
On September 29, the technical sessions will deal with Adventure Tourism, Gastronomy Tourism, MICE and Cruise Tourism, and Luxury and Wellness Tourism.
