The Ayurveda Promotion Society, in association with the Department of Tourism Kerala and India Tourism, is organising an ‘International Ayurveda Ambassador’sTour and B2B Meets starting from October 24 and ending on November 4.
The tour will start from Kannur and end at Kovalam covering Calicut, Kottakal, Trichur, Cheruthuruti, Ernakulam, Kumarakom and Kovalam. The 12-day programme by road is intended for exposure of international Ayurveda operators, agents, bloggers and media personnel to Ayurveda properties and service providers and also unexplored destinations in northern Kerala.
According to Mr. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, the department has associated with the programme as it will give a boost to genuine Ayurveda in Kerala in the face of stiff competition from Sri Lanka and other states as well. The minister launched the logo for the tour programme at the meeting organised in Trivandrum on October 14
Ms. Rani George, Secretary, Kerala Tourism, stressed the importance of classification in the Ayurveda segment and that these will have to be renewed every three years. The minister said that illegal operators in Ayurveda will not be allowed.
The six B2B meetings planned in Calicut, Kottakal, Trichur, Ernakulam, Kumarakom and Kovalam are the first of its kind for destinations and specialised product marketing and would help by direct interaction with service providers at their doorstep.
The 45 ambassadors for the tour were selected from among 120 expressions of interest received from 30 countries who are interested in promoting Kerala Ayurveda in their respective countries. This tour programme will help the visitors gain exposure to Kerala’s traditional Ayurveda and enable them to make people in their countries aware of the quality of Ayurveda in the state.
