Abu Dhabi Airports has officially appointed Elena Sorlini as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, following her interim role since June 2023. Sorlini brings over 20 years of experience in the aviation sector to this pivotal role, steering Abu Dhabi Airports through its next phase of growth.
During her tenure, Sorlini oversaw the successful opening of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s cutting-edge Terminal A, one of the largest airport terminals globally. With a capacity to accommodate 45 million passengers annually and 79 aircraft at any given time, Terminal A reinforces Abu Dhabi’s aviation sector’s contribution to the diversified economy. Sorlini’s leadership has also contributed to the continuous increase in passenger traffic numbers, along with attracting new airlines and routes, including Air France.
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor of Special Affairs at the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Airports expressed confidence in Sorlini’s ability to lead the organization toward solidifying Abu Dhabi’s position as a global tourism destination and a leading aviation hub.

Sorlini’s extensive experience in the aviation industry includes senior management positions at ADQ, Oman Aviation Group, Copenhagen Airports, and Macquarie Airports. She also serves on the boards of Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Aviation, and ADQ Aviation and Aerospace Services.
