AIR INDIA UNLEASHES STYLISH CREW ATTIRE SIGNALING A NEW AGE IN INFLIGHT FASHION

Air India has revealed its highly anticipated collection of new uniforms for both cabin and cockpit crew. Designed by renowned Indian couturier Manish Malhotra, the uniforms showcase a harmonious fusion of rich Indian heritage with contemporary elegance and comfort, symbolizing a new era in inflight couture.

Crafted at Malhotra’s Mumbai atelier, the collection features vibrant colors and timeless designs, reflecting the airline’s commitment to setting new standards in global aviation. The introduction of the uniforms will be phased in over the next few months, coinciding with the entry of Air India’s first Airbus A350 into commercial service.

Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India, expressed confidence that the innovative ensemble created by Manish Malhotra would script an exciting new chapter for the airline, capturing the essence of its new identity, service principles, and commitment to global aviation benchmarks.

Malhotra’s modern Indian style complements Air India’s recently unveiled global brand identity, embodying confidence, progressiveness, and a resurgent new India. The female cabin crew attire features ready-to-wear ombré sarees with intricate patterns, offering a unique East-meets-West look. The senior cabin crew will wear aubergine-to-burgundy ombré sarees, exuding authority and sophistication, while the junior cabin crew will don vibrant red-to-purple ombré sarees, embodying youthfulness and energy.

Manish Malhotra expressed his honor in designing the uniforms, aiming to capture the essence of India’s diverse culture and traditions in a modern and sophisticated look. The color palette includes deep red, burgundy, aubergine, and accents of gold, paying homage to India’s rich cultural heritage.

The well-fitted uniforms for both male and female cabin crew prioritize practicality and ease of movement during in-flight duties. The cockpit crew’s uniform features a classic black double-breasted suit with a print inspired by the Vista, symbolizing professionalism and timelessness.

Malhotra has curated stylish yet comfortable footwear, including dual-tone block heels for female cabin crew and black Brogues for male cabin crew. Sustainability and quality have been prioritized in the design and production process, with all fabrics and garments proudly sourced and tailored in India.

The new crew uniforms aim to define the very best of Indian heritage and hospitality, making a distinctive statement that travelers across continents will instantly recognize as the new Air India. Uniforms for ground staff, engineers, and security personnel, also designed by Manish Malhotra, will be revealed in due course.
