Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer has been elected to the Board of Governors at the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This prominent appointment reflects the industry’s recognition of his leadership and expertise. IATA is the trade association representing around 83% of total air traffic, advocating for global airline interests and striving to shape the future of safe, secure, and sustainable air transport.
In addition to his role with IATA, Engr. Badr Al-Meer has also been announced as a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO). This regional association brings together 34 Arab Airlines, fostering cooperation in areas such as aero-political affairs, environmental sustainability, and training.
Engr. Badr Al-Meer’s extensive aviation experience, highlighted by his previous role as Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport, positions him as a valuable asset in contributing to IATA’s mission and AACO’s objectives. During his tenure at Hamad International Airport, he played a pivotal role in major projects, including the innovative “The Orchard” expansion, which redefined the airport experience.
As a Board Director of the Airports Council International in the Asia/Pacific Region from 2018 to 2020, Engr. Badr Al-Meer contributed to discussions on future airport development and sustainability. His leadership at Hamad International Airport earned the facility prestigious accolades, such as Skytrax’s ‘Best Airport in the World’ in 2021 and 2022.
Engr. Badr Al-Meer’s career has been marked by key roles in Qatar’s iconic developments, including overseeing critical divisions and demonstrating expertise in construction and large-scale project development. In his new role as Group CEO, Engr. Badr Al-Meer is poised to lead Qatar Airways Group into an exciting new era, leveraging his experience to foster innovation and unite a motivated workforce
